Happy Summer Solstice

Aren’t flowers wonderful? Each one seems to have it’s own personality! We thought we’d share this one with you today on the Summer Solstice.

A perfect spiral, Costus Barbatus… sometimes the stem grows nice and straight, so we can include them in our flower arrangements, but others are more playful and the stems are swirly and twirly. The velvety leaves spiral around the waxy red flower.

This reminds us of how our home, the Earth, rotates around the Sun. Today is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and is celebrated worldwide by many cultures. Enjoy the longer days of summer. — Happy Summer Solstice!
